TP-Link Omada Controller Configuration

The following instructions outline how to setup a TP-Link Omada Controller network for the Smart WiFi Platform. This guide assumes that your Omada controller is already operational and on a live network with adopted Access Points. Please make sure any firewall rules, web content filters, and other security measures have been configured to interface with the platform.

  1. Login to your Omada controller
  2. Open the site you want to configure
  3. Click the settings cog wheel in the bottom left corner
  4. Using the menu to the left, open the Authentication section and click RADIUS Profile
  5. Click the + Create New RADIUS Profile button and configure with
    • Name: Smart WiFi
    • RADIUS Accounting: Enabled
    • Press the Add New Authentication Server and Add New Accounting Server buttons once so your profile contains two Authentication and two Accounting Server options
    • Authentication Server 1-
      • Authentication Server IP: You will receive this from us
      • Authentication Port: 1812
      • Authentication Password: You will receive this from us
    • Authentication Server 2-
      • Authentication Server IP: You will receive this from us
      • Authentication Port: 1812
      • Authentication Password: You will receive this from us
    • Accounting Server 1-
      • Accounting Server IP: Select one
      • Accounting Port: 1813
      • Accounting Password: You will receive this from us
    • Accounting Server 2-
      • Accounting Server IP: Select one
      • Accounting Port: 1813
      • Accounting Password: You will receive this from us
    • Press Save
  6. Using the menu to the left, open the Authentication section and click Portal
  7. Click the + Create New Portal button and configure with
    • Portal Name: Smart WiFi
    • Portal: Enabled
    • SSID & Network: Select the SSID you want to enable Guest WiFi on
    • Authentication Type: External RADIUS Server
    • RADIUS Profile: SmartWiFi
    • NAS ID: You will receive this from us
    • Authentication Mode: PAP
    • Portal Customization- External Web Portal: Use http:// and use the value provided
    • HTTPS Redirection: Disabled
    • Landing Page- The Promotional URL: Use http:// and use the value provided
    • Press Apply
  8. Back on the Portal page, click the Access Control tab at the top
    • Pre-Authentication Access: Enabled
    • Pre-Authentication List: Click the +Add button
      • Type: URL
      • URL: smartwifiplatform.com
      • Click the +Add New Pre-Authentication Access Entry button to add all of the platform default walled garden entries
      • Press Save to submit the list
  9. Press Apply
  10. The configuration is complete
