Nomadix Configuration Guide

Checklist before proceeding with the Nomadix configuration

  1. The Nomadix WAN MAC must be reported to support or guest will receive a hotspot deactivated message. The WAN MAC can be found under Configuration – Summary.
  2. You will need to enable Charge For Use and RADIUS Billing in the Port Location menu.


The following instructions outline how to setup a Nomadix Gateway network for the Smart WiFi Platform. This guide assumes that your Nomadix gateway is already operational and on a live network with managed Access Points. Please make sure any firewall rules, web content filters, and other security measures have been configured to interface with the platform.

    1. Log into your Nomadix Gateway
    2. On the menu to the left under Configuration, click AAA and configure with
      • AAA Services: Enabled
      • Internal Web Server: Enabled
      • SSL Support: Disabled
      • Encrypt only Sensitive Data: Disabled
      • Portal Page: Enabled
      • Portal Page URL: You will be provided this
      • Parameter Passing: Enabled
      • Parameter Signing Method: None
      • Parameter Signing Parameters: Enabled and check the following:
        1. UI
        2. MA,
        3. POR
        4. SIP
      • Usernames: Enabled
      • New Subscribers: Disabled
      • Credit Card Service: Disabled
      • Press Submit to save
    3. On the menu to the left click RADIUS Proxy. At the bottom of the page click on the Configure RADIUS service profiles button
    4. On the RADIUS Service Profiles page, click the Add button and configure with
      • Name: smartwifi
      • Enable RADIUS Authentication Service: Enabled
      • Protocol: PAP
      • Primary IP/DNS: You will be provided this
        Port: 1812
        Secret Key: You will be provided this
      • Primary IP/DNS: You will be provided this
        Port: 1812
        Secret Key: You will be provided this
      • Enable RADIUS Accounting Service: Enabled (ticked)
      • Primary IP/DNS: You will be provided this
        Port: 1813
        Secret Key: You will be provided this
      • Primary IP/DNS: You will be provided this
        Port: 1813
        Secret Key: You will be provided this
      • Re-transmission Delay: 3 (seconds)
      • Re-transmission Attempts: 5 (per server)
      • Click Submit to save the profile
    5. On the menu to the left click RADIUS Client and configure with
      • Default RADIUS Mode: Fixed
      • Default RADIUS Service Profile: smartwifi
      • Default User Idle Timeout: 3600
      • Send NAS Idenitfier: Enabled
      • Send NAS IP: Enabled
      • Send Framed IP: Enabled
      • Click Submit to save
    6. On the menu to the left click Passtrhough Addresses and configure with
      • Passthrough Addresses: Enabled
      • Click Submit to save
      • Add all the Default walled garden entries for the platform. You will need to add each entry one at a time until all of them have been added to the list. Include any additional entries provided by support with your order.

Troubleshooting Splash page

  1. If a hotspot deactivated message is presented ensure the Nomadix Gateway MAC has been reported to support.
  2. If devices are redirected to the splash page URL but the page fails to load ensure Passthrough Addresses has been enabled and properly configured with all the Default walled garden entries and any additional entries provided by support.
